Anodising and colour for art in architecture
Anodising projects art in architecture by Rainer Düvell
Art in architecture is a topic that architects and building owners often address through competitions. Rainer Düvell is both a sculptor and an architect, and therefore ideally suited to create a work that combines architecture and art. Since 2015, he has realized a series of projects using aluminum tubes and Sandalor® colour anodised aluminum from Kirchberg. The material offers a number of advantages. Technically, 6-meter aluminum tubes provide the stability required for the installations. Their light weight facilitates transport and installation, and gives the artist additional creative freedom. The hard, scratch-resistant surface is robust and easy to handle, especially during the on-site design phase. However, the decisive factor in choosing the material is the unique visual quality of anodised aluminum tubes colored using the Sandalor® process. The vibrant color brilliance of the anodised finish is particularly striking due to the round shape of the tubes. Anodising and color are the perfect combination for impactful art in architecture.
