Harmony and contrast

Thirteen years after its completion, we were able to inspect the building at Sandtorpark in Hamburg in 2022. The facade panels and window profiles were anodised and colored in E6 S130-1 Sandalor® Orange in 2009.

In HafenCity, with its many old brick buildings, color is a key design element. Harmony and contrast are not mutually exclusive in this project. The vibrant, luminous anodised surfaces, combined with Sandalor® Orange, create a striking visual impact that contrasts with the green of the parkland, while maintaining perfect visual unity with the old brick buildings. Old and new in perfect harmony.

The impact of the color was also recognized by the advertising industry, which used the building as a backdrop for a car advertisement. Those who would like to get a visual impression can find some nice glimpses on the video portal between seconds 30 and 33.

* Removal of protective film 2009

This image was taken during the building's completion in 2009 and shows the removal of the protective film from the window profiles. The protective films are applied after anodising. They facilitate the window installer's handling and processing of the profiles. During the construction phase, they protect against mechanical and chemical stresses from construction work.
