Victoria Riverside Manchester Sandalor^® Sheet metal edge components, window reveal

Window reveals made of sheet metal edge profiles adorn the corners of the Victoria Riverside project in Manchester.

For the „Victoria Riverside“ project in Manchester, the architecture firm Hawkins\Brown opted for a unique corner solution. Window reveals made of folded sheet metal elements embellish the three high-rise buildings at each corner. The towers, designed with very simple window surfaces, gain their distinctive appearance at the 45° angled corners. The folded aluminum profiles, mitered and installed, form a kind of funnel towards the window. The sophisticated geometric shape was made possible by precise, computer-controlled cutting with cutouts. The individual elements were produced using three bending operations on a press brake. Hawkins\Brown went a step further, however, emphasizing the corners with a special color scheme. Six different anodised colors—bronze, yellow, gold, and red—contrast with the other materials, such as glass and sandstone. The colors set accents and, thanks to the balanced proportions of the individual surfaces to each other, are simultaneously understated and visually connect all the different elements to create the successful overall work „Victoria Riverside“.
