Pergamonmuseum Berlin with GRANODAL®
Contemporary and Timeless
The Pergamon Museum in Berlin is gaining two new buildings. The fourth wing connects the two existing wings, allowing visitors to experience the exhibitions in a single, continuous tour. The Tempietto, or „Little Temple,“ will serve as the new entrance building. Both buildings were designed by the architect O.M. Ungers, who passed away in 2007. Construction is being carried out by the Pergamon Museum consortium. The juxtaposition of historical, listed structures and contemporary architecture with modern building technology and modern, accessible design demands great sensitivity and care, particularly in the selection of materials and colors. Natural stone slabs, mirroring the historical facade, frame the linear, transparent metal-glass construction with its illuminated ceilings. We are delighted that the optical and technical properties of GRANODAL® proved convincing and are being used in the windows of both new buildings. GRANODAL® offers a high-quality, understated surface that combines beautifully with other materials, such as the natural stone facades. It subtly enhances the overall impression and supports the transparent effect of the glass surfaces and light ceilings.
