Anodised facade with perforated pattern „Viking Link“
Bronze-colored picture facade anodised in E6 C32
As an anodising plant, we were privileged to support the Danish company AE Stålmontage A/S in the Viking Link project. This project connects Denmark and England with a 765 km long power cable. The substation in Revsing received an exceptional facade perfectly suited to the project. The design, by Rambøll Denmark, features graphic motifs from the Viking Age, which AE Stålmontage A/S then applied to the anodised aluminum facade. "The 5,000 m² of steel sheets facing the ground and the 10,000 m² of perforated facade panels were manufactured entirely in our workshop (AE Stålmontage A/S). For this, we invested in a new IT program that could recognize the color variations in the samples provided by the architect and convert them into corresponding hole sizes. Each aluminum sheet is 2,400 mm long and 1,100 mm high, with a hole punched every 10 cm. This results in 264 holes per sheet – with 3,221 sheets, this equates to a staggering 850,344 holes! The hole sizes vary and together create the impressive design." (Quote from the project website!)
To ensure that 3,221 sheets could be installed at the right time and in the right place, close logistical coordination with ALUTECTA was essential for a successful collaboration.

E6 C32 Anodisation
Technology
- The perforation patterns were punched into the aluminum sheets by AE Stålmontage A/S in the first step, creating 850,344 holes.
- The sheets are then "contacted" on a frame at the locations specified by the customer.
- In the anodising bath, an oxide layer forms on the front, back, and in the perforations.
- In the two-stage color process, metal oxides are embedded in the anodised layer.
- Modern anodising plants and trained personnel control the process to achieve the velvety, matte surface and the desired bronze color E6 C32.
- After rinsing, the anodised surface is densified, and the color remains anchored in the anodised pores.
Quality
- Matte stained surface texture
- Lightfast bronze color due to embedded metal oxides
- Quality assured according to Qualanod for architectural applications
- Protection against mechanical stress
- High protective effect and low maintenance
- Durable and sustainable
Appearance
- Velvety, Matte surface with a uniform metallic reflection
- Bronze color anodised E6 C32
- The dark background remains visible through the perforated pattern in the facade.
- The reflection on the front and the translucent background create a subtle 3D effect that continuously changes throughout the day and depending on the viewer's position.
